Bulk jobs
Last updated 24/08/2026
A bulk job runs your script once per work item matched by a JQL, in the background — no browser timeout. Start one from the Console (“Or run it across many work items now”): the script handles one item (context.issue), you supply the JQL, and Dry run is respected so you can rehearse a 10,000-item change before making it.
- Processed in batches in the background until the JQL is exhausted; cap 50,000 items per job.
- Track progress on the Bulk jobs tab: status, processed/failed counts, up to 20 error samples, and Cancel.
- A batch may occasionally be retried, so semantics are at-least-once — write idempotent scripts where double-processing would matter.
context.issuecarriessummary, status, assignee, priority, issuetype; fetch more inside the script if needed.
Every JQL box in Hooks autocompletes like Jira’s own search bar — fields, operators, live value suggestions — and validates as you type, showing Jira’s exact error.
